Why I Wrote This Book

The idea for this book floated down from above several years ago.  It was like a whisper in my ear. Your mission is to find a middle name for Grandma. Gradually I began filling in the background with ideas of the United States bicentennial because it was such a significant time in history filled with great memories.

The book is semi-autobiographical - some things really happened and some are fabricated.  What is definitely true is that my grandma was a devout Catholic who set an amazing example of how to live a life of love, humility, kindness, and generosity.  I never heard her complain, even when she had to have the first of two leg amputations.  She said, “God must not want me to have that leg.”  And then she laughed.  Her glass was always half full.

My granddaughter asked me if it’s a happy book, to which I contentedly replied, “Yes!”

I hope this book brings you and yours just that, happiness.
